  1. Insider Mac (Slow Ring) - Can't Update Apps (Autoupdate 4.24) I've never had this issue before. The Autoupdate process is failing. Downloads are slow, and then patching the apps (installing.) takes 5-10 minutes. This is on a new-ish MacBook Pro i7 with 6 cores.
  2. Oct 05, 2013  I can't update my apps: app store shows me the 'update' button on the apps (and i can see them in the applications i have bought); but when i try to download the update a window tells me to use the account i used to download the applications!
  3. I had the same issue. It transpires that I had moved from Australia to the UK and the apps that were causing the issue were installed when I was in Australia. To solve the issue I had to logout from my UK AppStore Account and logon using my Australian AppStore account. Once I did this and chose to update the apps it all worked.

As a Mac user, it's likely that at least some of the apps you have didn't come from the Mac App Store. While you can just head to the store's Update tab to download the latest version of your store-bought apps, updating third-party software from outside the Mac App Store can require a little more effort.

Checking for an update often requires just a quick trip to the Menu bar.

  1. Open your chosen app.
  2. Click your app's name in the Menu bar at the top of the screen.

  3. Click Check for Updates.

  4. Click Download and Install if there is an available update.
